How do I create an account and can I have a free trial?

You can register for free with ClassMarker and you’ll be able to use the system for free for 30 days. This way you can trial the system and clarify any questions you may have before making any commitments.

What is the difference between an Education and Business account?

ClassMarker Education plans are for customers that operate in a not-for-profit environment. If, for example, you use ClassMarker for training your staff (a non-profit activity) but your organization is operating in a for-profit environment, you would be required to register for a Business plan. All paid training and online courses also fall under Business registration.

What is the cost for using ClassMarker?

ClassMarker does not charge per user, question or test created. You can store as many questions, tests and users (unlimited non-registered users, up to 1000 registered users per ClassMarker account) as you like within ClassMarker; you will only ever use your credits when a test is taken. Each time a test is taken one credit is used. If you have one test and five users take it you will use five credits. If you have four tests and eight users take each of those tests you will use 32 credits.

How do credits work?

A credit is used each time a test is taken. If you have one test and five users take it you will use five credits. If you have four tests and eight users take each of those tests you will use 32 credits.

Don't forget: ClassMarker does not charge per user, question or test created. You can store as many users, questions and tests as you like within ClassMarker; you will only ever use your credits when a test is taken. Each time a test is taken one credit is used.

What options do I have for payment, and how do I get a purchase order/invoice?

There are two payment options available to you:
  • Credit card: Simply log into the website and follow the prompts on the Upgrade page. An invoice will be available for you to download after you have processed the payment under your My account page.
Note: The next payment method will incur a $50.00 USD fee to cover administration and international transfer fees charged by banks.
  • International transfer / Bank transfer: For a faster processing time you are able to pay via bank transfer. Please contact us for payment details and make sure to include your ClassMarker account username when using this payment method.
    Please include the additional $50.00 USD fee for paying by transfer as stated above.

What do I need to do when my Credit pack or Professional plan is nearing the expiry date, or has expired?

When your Credit pack or Professional plan is nearing it's expiry date you should assess your credit usage, review your account options and then decide which will suit you most.

You can renew your existing account option, or you can choose something different to suit your current needs.

Professional plans offer 400 or 1000 credits per month for a 12 month period. These yearly account plans are perfect for regular testing. (Unused credits do not roll over.)

Credit packs offer a bundle of credits that are valid for use for 12 months from the purchase date. If your Credit pack is nearing the expiry date you can make any purchase (either Credit pack or Professional plan) and you will extend the expiry date of your existing Credit pack for another year. This option is great for bulk or occasional testing.

Don't forget: You can always 'top-up' your Professional plan with a Credit pack if you go over your monthly credit allowance.

Where can I upgrade my account?

Please log into your account and select the Upgrade link from the top right of your screen. From here you can choose from one of our account options.

Receipts are available for download once you have finalized the transaction. Please go to the My Account section - from here you will find Recent Receipts.

What are the minimum technology requirements to use ClassMarker?

No downloads, installations or investment in technology infrastructure is required, and it's so easy to use, anyone can get up and running straight away.

ClassMarker is an online system, so you need internet access and we recommend using a modern web browser:
  • Internet explorer 6+
  • FireFox 2.0+
  • Safari 3+
  • Opera 10.6+
  • Chrome 8+
Additionally you will need JavaScript and cookies enabled which comes standard with web browsers.

ClassMarker's online-testing system is available to anyone with an internet connection. Our web-based exam service is easy-to-use, secure and reliable.

Does ClassMarker work on an iPhone and/or iPad?

Does ClassMarker have an app for iPhone or iPad?

ClassMarker doesn't currently have an iPhone app, however the system works perfectly on all mobile devices using a web browser just like on your computer.

How do I amend the time zone that is applied to my account?

  1. Go to the My account page.
  2. Scroll down to My Details 'View and edit my details'.
  3. Select Edit my details.
  4. Amend the time zone as required.
  5. Select Update at the bottom of the page to save your edits.

How do I edit the country that is associated with my account?

  1. Go to My account.
  2. Scroll down to Scroll down to My Details 'View and edit my details'.
  3. Select the button 'Edit details'.
  4. Use the Country drop-down list to make your required selection.
  5. Enter your password in the field 'Current login password'.
  6. Select the 'Update' button.
  7. Check for a 'Success' message and then scroll down to your details to verify the change has taken place.

How do I change my account (administrator) password?

  1. Go to My account, expand My Details 'View and edit my details' and select Edit details.
  2. Edit password as required.
  3. Save edits.

Why am I not receiving emails from ClassMarker?

Please check your spam/junk folder, then check with your email/IT administrator check if they have blocked emails from the domain classmarker.com. In most cases adding classmarker.com to a 'trusted' list can resolve the problem.

Note: If your organization has a policy of blocking some external emails, you can register and verify a different email address (for example Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc). To do this go to My account and click on My Details 'View and edit my details'. Make sure you verify the new email address in order to receive emails from ClassMarker.

How do I add extra email addresses for results to be emailed to?

  1. Go to the My account page and scroll down to Verify extra email addresses.
  2. Expand this section. Note: You can also remove extra email addresses from this section of the My account page.
  3. Choose Add new email addresses.
  4. Enter email address as per instructions and then choose Send verification email.
  5. Instruct the owner of the email address that they need to verify their email address. Simply click on the link displayed in the email that is sent from ClassMarker.
  6. Now when you assign your test via Links the extra email addresses (once verified) will be available for results to be sent to.
  7. If the owner of the extra email address does not receive a verification email: Please check your spam/junk folder, then check with your email/IT administrator to see if they block emails from the domain classmarker.com. In most cases adding classmarker.com to a 'trusted' list can resolve the problem.

Can I brand my tests?

Yes, you can add your own logos and colors to your tests and remove ClassMarker branding.

You can also embed you tests directly into your own website.

Use Themes to apply organization branding to your test pages. Upload a logo then select appropriate colours (all ClassMarker branding will be removed).
Note: This is valid for all tests assigned via Link (for non-registered users).

Create a theme:
  1. Go to Links > Themes.
  2. Create a new Theme.
  3. Give the Theme a name.
  4. Define all elements of your Theme. Select a logo, appropriate colours and a background image (if required).
  5. Save and preview the Theme.
Apply a Theme to a test within the assign-settings page.

Tip: Create a blank Theme and assign it to your group if you are embedding the test within your own website as this will remove the ClassMarker branding (if required).

How do I remove advertising from my tests?

All upgraded accounts (both Education and Business) have no advertising (as long as tests are set to save results).

Upgrade your account to gain access to all of ClassMarker's great features. Simply log into your account, go to My account > Upgrade and make your selection.

Can I save test results and review at any time?

Yes, ClassMarker will save test results for you to review and export. Simply go the Results section to view and export results as required.

You can also view test results in real time. Answers are saved as each user proceeds to the next page. You can view "in progress" results on your Recent results page (simply use the filters to find tests which are "in progress").

How can users access my tests?

You have multiple options to Assign (distribute) your test(s):
  • Register users under your administrator account and then Assign (distribute) tests to Registered user groups. Registered users must log into their account via the ClassMarker.com website to take their tests.
  • Test non-registered users by Assigning (distributing) your tests via Link. You will be provided with a link that can be sent to users or you can add the test to your website. Public and private options are available.

Can I limit what feedback users see?

Yes, you have full control over how much, if any, feedback users can see during and after they complete their test. Like all settings in ClassMarker this can be customized on a per test basis.

These settings can be defined when you Assign (distribute) your test/s. Please see the 'Assign test' section in FAQ/Help for more information.

How do I capture information about my users?

If you are testing non-registered users, when you Assign (distribute) your tests you can select for a number of information questions to be completed prior to the test commencing. These can be name, email and any other custom questions you require.

To collect this information you must assign your test via Link:
  1. Assign test via Link.
  2. Within the Test settings under the Test Introduction section you'll find the settings 'Collect user information' and 'Extra information questions'. Customize these settings as required.
  3. Always ensure you scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save changes to save your defined settings.

Can I create tests in different languages?

ClassMarker enables the creation of foreign language tests. Go to the Tests section and select Question bank. From the Manage Questions drop down then choose to Import questions. You can download a template (.txt file) and easily add your questions.

You can then upload your questions and check they are correct before saving them to your Question bank. If you do not wish edit anything select Save and your questions will be added to your Question bank instantly. You can then add these questions to any of your tests as required.

What cheat prevention does ClassMarker offer?

To prevent cheating you can easily:
  • Randomize test question ordering
  • Randomize answer ordering
  • Have questions randomly selected from your Question bank each time a test is started
  • Disable printing options

    What are my payment options?

    There are three payment options available with ClassMarker.

    1. Credit card: Simply log into the website, select Upgrade from the top right of your screen and choose one of our account options. An invoice will be available for you to download after you have processed the payment under the My Account page.

    Note: The next two payment methods will incur a $50.00 USD fee to cover administration and international transfer fees charged by banks.

    2. Check/Purchase Orders - CONTACT US for our mailing address.

    3. International transfer / Bank transfer: Please include your ClassMarker account username as the reference when using this payment method. CONTACT US for our bank details.

    Remember: Always include your account username as a reference.

    It's important to note that each test can be assigned any number of times to different sets of users with different settings applied. There is no need to duplicate a test, instead simply assign it as many times as you like.

    Firstly via Groups. Once you've created a Group you can register users to it. Registered users will log in via the ClassMarker.com website where they can access the tests you have assigned to their group.

    The second option is to create a Link to your test - this link can be sent out to users, or you can add or embed the test into your website using the code we provide. No user registration is required and you can apply user information questions that are displayed before the test starts. You can brand tests with your organization's logo and colors by applying a Theme. Restrict access to tests assigned via link by implementing an Access List, and password protection is also available.

    When you assign a test you will be provided with a number of customizable settings to ensure your test is delivered according to your requirements. These include time & date availability, number of attempts allowed, whether a certificate is to be included, the pass mark, pass and fail feedback messages plus many more settings.     Why can't I delete a question or test?

    All ClassMarker data is related. This means that you cannot delete a question or test that has results saved against it.
    1. Always check your results area first and delete any related results.
    2. Then check that the question or test isn't assigned - delete the assignment if it has been assigned.
    3. Now you can delete the question or test.

    How do I create a test so that questions are randomly picked from my specified categories?

    When you create a test you will find two options for selecting the questions that will be displayed when your test is taken.

    Adding Fixed questions means the same set of questions is displayed each time the test is taken.

    Adding Auto-Selected Questions means questions are automatically selected from specified categories within your Question Bank. Each time the test is taken, a different set of questions is displayed.

    You can combine these two methods if you wish and your test will display a mix of fixed and random questions.

    In order to utilize Auto-Selected Questions you must already have the questions saved in your Question Bank. (Any questions previously added to any of your tests will have been automatically added to your Question Bank, so there is no need to duplicate.) Do not add Fixed questions if you only want questions Auto-Selected.

    Don't forget: Once you have created your questions and tests you'll want to provide access to them. ClassMarker refers to this as Assigning your test; look out for the Assign buttons across the site.

    How do I add an existing registered user to an additional Group?

    Use the search function at the top right of your screen (be sure to change the 'search by' drop-down to 'users') then enter the user details. You can then expand the user information and select 'transfer/delete user'; from here you can add/delete the user from any one of your Groups.

    How do I delete a registered user?

    Use the search function at the top right of your screen (be sure to change the 'search by' drop-down to 'users') then enter the user details. You can then expand the user information and select 'transfer/delete user'; from here you can select the 'delete now' link to delete the user and their results from your account.

    How do I print on ClassMarker?

    With ClassMarker you have the option to Print each page you visit:

    1. Go to the My Account hover menu.
    2. Select 'Print this page'.

    What are the limitations of an Education free account?

    The Education free account is only available to not-for-profit organizations including not-for-profit education and government institutions. It provides 100 free credits per month with limited features:

    Free accounts provide a fully functional testing environment. You can register users, create and assign unlimited tests and questions and save up to and review 100 test results per month (taken by your Registered users, not via Link).

    Free accounts cannot: Provide certificates, email results, batch import questions, upload images or files (embeddeding externally hosted images and files in questions is available).

    How does ClassMarker back-up and secure my data?

    ClassMarker does an incremental back-up of all data every 30 minutes. Our website is hosted in a 24/7, high security data center to ensure the highest level of security for your data. All passwords are fully encrypted when stored in our system. ClassMarker is also PCI compliant.

    Does ClassMarker store my credit card details?

    ClassMarker does not store or process any credit card information. All transactions are processed via the highly secure WorldPay.com or PayPal.com websites.

    Is my data in ClassMarker kept private?

    Yes, at ClassMarker we take your data and privacy seriously. All data you add to ClassMarker is private to your account only. You can also remove your data from ClassMarker at any time.

    How ClassMarker Works

    Here is an overview of how ClassMarker works. Please review other help articles for more detailed help and instructions.

    The Tests section is where you create and edit questions and tests. There are a number of different question types available. Create your test with fixed questions, where the same questions are displayed each time the test is taken, or you can utilize the auto-selection feature where questions are selected at random from your specified categories each time the test is taken.

    On the Dashboard you will find a snapshot of your account.

    The My Data section to the right of the page displays what data you have under your account.
    You can use the My Data quick-links to easily access the different sections of your account.

    View the Recent Results tabs (By Test, By Group or By Link) to see results saved in the last 30 days. (For a full history of your results go to the main navigation and view the Tests, Groups or Links sections.)

    Tests: Getting started

    The Tests section is where you add and edit questions and tests. Access the Tests section either via the main navigation or via the quick-links displayed at top right of your screen.

    With ClassMarker you can create as many questions and tests as you like.

    Adding questions:
    ClassMarker provides 3 ways to add questions to your account.
    1. Add questions to the Question Bank. All tests can select questions from the Question Bank, and each question can be re-used any number of times.
    2. Create a test, and then add questions directly into the test. These questions are also automatically added to the Question Bank which means they can be used in other tests if required.
    3. Prepare batches of questions offline and import them to ClassMarker via the Question Bank.

    Settings & Default Settings

    When you assign (provide access to) a test (either by Group or Link) you will be provided with a number of customizable settings to ensure your test is delivered according to your requirements. These include time & date availability, number of attempts allowed, whether a certificate is to be included, the pass mark, pass and fail feedback messages and many more. Look out for the (?) symbols on the settings page for individual explanations.

    You can also save Default Settings to streamline the assign process. Go to your account area at the top right of the screen, and select Default Settings. Once you have defined your Default Settings they will be automatically applied each time you assign a test - and of course you will be able to edit individual settings if required.

    How do I create and edit my online tests?

    Create and edit tests in your Tests section.

    To create a new test:
    1. Go to the Tests section and click 'New Test'.
    2. Add a test name and category (categories are used to organize your tests and questions).
    3. Now you can add existing questions from your Question bank or you can create new questions by using the 'Add new' option. Any new questions you add here will also be added to your Question bank. Alternatively, you can add Random question settings to have questions chosen at random from your Question bank.
    4. Once you have finished creating your test, you can assign it to a Registered user Group or create a Link to embed it to your own website via the Assign section.
    Note: To edit an existing test simply go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Edit'.

    How quickly can I setup an online test?

    You can get setup an online test with ClassMarker in minutes. All you need to do is:
    1. Create your questions and tests
    2. Assign (distribute) your test
    3. Analyze the results

    It's really that easy. If you have a large number of questions you can use the import function. You can define a number of different settings so that the test is configured exactly how you want it, and you can either register your users, let them register themselves, or Assign (distribute) the Test via Link to groups of non-registered users.

    Can my Tests select questions randomly from my Question bank?

    Yes, ClassMarker can use Random question settings for your Test.
    1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Edit'.
    2. Using the Add Questions hover, scroll down to and click 'Auto Select'. Here you can set how many questions to include from all your question categories or even specify the exact number of questions per category to be selected at random.

    How do I check my test before my users take it?

    You can easily preview your test before your users take it. There are two ways you can do this:
    1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Preview'. This will show you a preview using your Default test settings.
    2. Go to your Groups or Links section, find your Group and Test and select the Preview test link. This will show a preview using the specific Test settings you have defined.
    Note: Your results are not saved for review when you are logged in as an administrator and previewing a test.

    My questions and/or tests aren't displaying correctly. How can I fix this?

    There are a few things you can check in the instance that your questions or tests aren't displaying correctly.
    1. Does your web browser have JavaScript enabled? This is a requirement for all administrators and users of ClassMarker.
    2. Are you using a modern web browser? We recommend either:
      • Internet explorer 6+
      • FireFox 2.0+
      • Safari 3+
      • Opera 10.6+
      • Chrome 8+
    3. Are you on a network that has access to the following domains?

    How do I print my tests in ClassMarker so they can be taken on paper?

    ClassMarker allows you to print your tests so they can be taken on paper.

    1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Edit'.
    2. In the Test navigation you will see an option for Paper. Click Paper and then 'Prepare Test for printing'.
    3. Define your Print settings.

    Under the My Account hover you also have the option to 'Print this Page'.

    How can I allow my users to save their quiz and resume it later?

    1. Go to the Tests, Groups or Links section, expand your test and click 'Settings'.
    2. Within the settings page scroll down to the setting: Save and finish later mode. Setting this to 'on' will allow users to complete their test in more than one sitting.

    How do I edit the order questions appear in my tests?

    At any time you can add new questions to your test (by creating new questions or choosing existing questions from your Question bank), then arrange the order in which they appear. Alternatively you can choose to have them appear in random order.

    To re-order static questions:
    1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Edit'
    2. In the right hand panel under Options click the link 'Set question ordering'.
    3. Drag your questions to your desired order then select 'Update question order' at the bottom of the page.
    Tip: Drag your questions slightly to the right, and then up or down, of their current placement to see the questions jump around the page.

    To have questions appear in random order:
    1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Edit'
    2. Scroll down and delete all Static questions from your test.
    3. Implement Auto Select question settings instead. Expand the Auto Selected question settings area of the page and then follow the instructions provided.
    Note: You can also have the answers for multiple choice questions provided in random order. This can be set when creating or editing a question.

    How long do online tests remain valid in ClassMarker?

    As long as you keep your ClassMarker account open, we will keep your online tests available.

    You simply need to assign your test/s and define the availability settings to allow users to take your test/s whenever you require.

    How do I delete a test?

    Deleting a test is permanent. If the test is currently assigned to any group (either Registered user Group or Link), it will not be deleted. First remove the Test from your groups, then you can delete the test.

    To unassign a test from a Group:
    1. Go to your Groups or Links section, find the group/test and click 'Settings'.
    2. For a Registered user Group select the Unassign test button from the right hand panel. For Links select 'Delete link and any Results it contains' from right hand panel.
    To delete the test:
    1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Edit'.
    2. In the Test navigation you will see an option for Delete.
    3. Select Delete this test.
    Note: This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

    How can I share my tests with colleagues or other ClassMarker accounts?

    There are a couple of options for sharing your tests.

    Share via export/import functions:
    1. Go to the Tests section, expand the test you would like to share and click 'Edit'.
    2. Under the Options hover click the link 'Export test questions', a .txt file will download.
    3. Share this file for Import into the other ClassMarker accounts.
    4. To Import the file to the other account go to Tests > Question bank and select Import questions from the Manage Questions hover.
    5. You do not need to create a new import template, simply go to Step 2 and import the .txt file that you created in the above steps.
    Share via the ClassMarker Community section:
    If you are happy to share your test with the wider ClassMarker community you can add your test/s to the Community section. Here you can share or copy tests that have been added to the Community section by any of our members.
    1. Go to Tests > Community.
    2. Select Share tests.
    3. Find the test you'd like to share and select Share this test now. You can add comments here if you wish (for example, a description that will make it obvious what your test is about).

    How do I copy quizzes other users have created using ClassMarker?

    ClassMarker has a Community section where quiz creators can share their work. Only quizzes that have been selected to be shared will be available to be copied.

    The Community section is a great way for all our users to share quizzes and save time.

    To share via the Community section:
    1. Go to the Tests section > Community.
    2. Select Share tests and follow the prompts.
    Alternatively, if you want to share your quizzes with only a few of your colleagues (and not the wider ClassMarker Community) you can export your quiz and then send the export file to your colleague. They can then import that file to their ClassMarker account.

    To share your quiz via this method:
    1. Go to the Tests section, expand the test you would like to share and click 'Edit'.
    2. Under the Options hover click the link 'Export test questions', a .txt file will be produced; send this to your colleague/s.

    Questions: Getting started

    ClassMarker offers the ability to create a number of different question types including: multiple choice, multiple response, true/false, short answer (defined response) and essay (longer text, response not defined).

    You can add questions using any of the following methods:
    1. Add questions directly to your Question bank (go to Tests > Question bank and use the links in Manage Questions).
    2. Add questions directly into a test
    3. Or you can import questions using ClassMarker's import function (go to Tests > Question bank and find the Import questions link in Manage Questions).
    Any question that is added, using any method, will also be automatically added to your Question bank. This means each question that you add is saved into your Question bank and can be reused across any number of tests.

    Question Bank

    The primary way to add questions to your account is via Tests / Question Bank.

    ClassMarker provides 2 additional ways to add questions to your account.

    - One option is to create a test, and then add questions directly into the test. These questions are also automatically added to the Question Bank which means they can be used in other tests if required.

    - Also, you can prepare batches of questions off line and batch-import them to ClassMarker via the Question Bank.

    ClassMarker provides the following question types, and more are coming soon: multiple choice, multiple response, true/false, grammar, short answer and long answer.

    Note: When you make an edit to a question, the edit will be applied to all tests that contain that question.

    How do I create and edit questions?

    Create and edit questions under Tests > Question bank.

    To create a question:
    1. Choose the Add New link from the Add Questions field.
    2. Complete the question and answer fields as required.
    3. Provide the score and any other required information.
    4. Save the question - it is now available in your Question Bank and can be used across any of your tests.
    To edit an existing question use the filters in the main content area under Tests > Question Bank to find the question and then select the Edit question link.

    To import questions from a .txt file select the Import questions link in Manage Questions under Tests > Question Bank.

    How do I edit or delete a question I have in my Question bank?

    To edit a question:
    1. Go to Tests > Question bank.
    2. Search for your question.
    3. Select the Edit question link and edit as required. Edits will be applied across all tests that include that question.
    To delete a question:
    1. Go to Tests > Question bank.
    2. Search for your question.
    3. Select the Delete question link.
    Note: ClassMarker will not let you delete a question if it is being used in a test, or if it is included in a test that has results saved. Instead you would first need to remove the existing results and then remove the question in the test by going to Tests > Edit so it is no longer being referenced anywhere.

    How do I set how many points each question is worth?

    The points that can be awarded for each question are set when you create or edit your questions. Each question can be set to have a different number of points.

    To create a new question and set points:
    1. Go to Tests > Question Bank.
    2. Select one of the Add new question links from Manage Questions.
    3. Towards the bottom of the page you can enter the number of points that is available for this question.
    4. Make sure you select Save question.
    To edit an existing question and set points:
    1. Go to Tests > Question Bank.
    2. Use the filters to find the question you'd like to edit.
    3. Select Edit question.
    4. Towards the bottom of the page you can edit the number of points that is available for this question.
    5. Make sure you select Save question.
    Note: You can also create and edit questions from within the Tests > Edit section. Simply use the Add new question link from the Add Questions, or edit static questions that have been added to your test.
    Any edits you make to your questions will be automatically applied across all tests that include that question.

    What question types does ClassMarker have?

    You can create many types of questions including multiple choice, multiple response, true/false, short answer/fill in the blank, punctuation checking and essay style questions.

    All question types are graded automatically by ClassMarker except essay questions. You can log in and grade these questions manually at any time. Tests scores are then re-calculated accordingly.

    What question settings are available to be customized?

    When adding or editing questions, you can set:
    • How many points the question is worth
    • Choose to randomize multiple choice answers
    • Categorize your questions from your own categories
    Multiple response questions allow three grading options:
    • Full points awarded only when all responses are correctly selected, otherwise zero points awarded
    • Partial score per correct responses, deduct partial score per incorrect response
    • Partial score per correct responses, do not deduct partial score per incorrect response
    Edit multiple questions at once via the Edit question settings link on the Question bank or Edit Test pages.

    How do I add a video to one of my questions?

    To add video to your ClassMarker questions you must upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo. (The video will be fully embedded in your test once added to your question.)

    First you need to retrieve the YouTube/Vimeo URL for the video you would like to embed:
    1. Go to YouTube/Vimeo and find your video.
    2. The URL in your browser will look something like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojSngu0Qp8E. You can either copy this URL, or simply copy the YouTube/Vimeo video ID which in this example would be: ojSngu0Qp8E. (Note: Do not use the 'YouTube embed code'.)
    Now you can add the video to one of your questions:
    1. Go to Tests > Question bank and find the question you'd like to edit.
    2. Select Edit question.
    3. Select the YouTube icon (above the question text area).
    4. Enter the URL or YouTube/Vimeo video ID that you copied from the above instruction.
    5. Select Test video, then check that the video appears correctly.
    6. Select Embed this video.

    How do I create tests in different languages?

    ClassMarker enables the creation of foreign language tests. Go to the Tests section and select Question bank, then select Import questions in the right hand panel. You can download a template (.txt file) and easily add your questions.

    You can then upload your questions and check they are correct before saving them to your Question bank. If you do not wish edit anything select Save and your questions will be added to your Question bank instantly. You can then add these questions to any of your tests as required.

    Why do certain foreign language characters not appear correctly?

    Please check what file type are you using to edit your question template:
    Windows default text editor "Notepad" will not format the question text correctly. You need to use an advanced text editor such as Notepad++ which can be downloaded for free.

    If you're already using an advanced text editor, please ensure that you are not copying and pasting from Microsoft Word as this can sometimes create characters that are not UTF-8 compatible. If your characters are not UTF-8 compatible they will not format correctly.

    This means you may need to source those specific characters from a different source such as a UTF-8 website, for example: http://www.utf8-chartable.de/ where you can copy and paste the required characters into your .txt template.

    Please always first make sure the characters in the .txt files are all 'readable', they will then be able to be uploaded to ClassMarker.

    How many questions can I display per page?

    You can show between one and 10 questions on each page. The number of questions on each page can be defined when you assign your test.
    1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign', or find the Group or Link for a test that has already been assigned and select 'Edit'.
    2. Within the Test settings page define the setting: Number of questions to be displayed per page.
    3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save Changes.
    Remember: You can include as many questions per test as you require, there is no limit.

    How do I randomize multiple choice answers?

    You can randomize multiple choice answers for each question via the question settings in your Question bank pages.

    This is a great way to help stop users from sharing answers.

    You can choose your random settings on a per question basis when adding or editing your multiple choice questions.

    Note: The A), B), C) prefix is not shown during the test for questions whose answers are given in random order. This is because final results are always displayed in original answer ordering and creates confusion if a user recalls selecting an answer with prefix A) for a question, however, the results view show their selected answer now with a prefix as C).

    What are my options for multiple response question grading styles?

    You can set Multiple response questions to give 'full' points only when all the correct answers and no incorrect answers are selected, or allow for partial points to be awarded for correct answers.

    There are three grading methods.

    Partial scoring options:
    • Off - Full points for full correct answer, zero points if an error is made
    • Partial points with deduction - Remove partial points for incorrect answers
    • Partial points - Do not remove points for incorrect answers
    Example: Partial scoring with deduction
    A question worth 3 points with 3 correct answers will gain 1 point for each correct answer selected but also lose 1 point for each incorrect answer selected.

    Example: Partial scoring
    A question worth 3 points with 3 correct answers will gain 1 point for each correct answer selected.

    Partial scoring will not give negative points. Zero is the minimum points awarded.

    Note: ClassMarker will limit the amount of selections allowed to the amount of correct answers given for the question to stop a user selecting all answers.

    You can choose your grading style settings on a per question basis when added or editing your multiple response questions.

    Can I place a hyperlink in my questions?

    Yes. Simply use the hyperlink icon (the icon that looks like a chain) that sits above the question field and enter the link in the box that appears.

    How do I embed externally hosted images in my question and answer fields?

    The image must be hosted on another website.
    1. You need to copy the image URL (hover your mouse over the image on the external website and right click, you should see an option to 'copy image URL').
    2. Then go to the ClassMarker question/answer field where you want to embed your image.
    3. Select the 'insert image' icon (the little mountain) and select the 'image' link next to 'externally hosted' option.
    4. Then simply paste in the URL.

    Certificates »

    Certificates: Getting started

    ClassMarker provides the ability to create custom certificates.

    There are eight different design backgrounds to choose from, and several different custom information fields that you can choose to include/exclude as you require.

    When you assign (distribute) your test you can choose whether you'd like to include a certificate, and you can also define whether the certificate will be displayed to all users upon completion of the test, or if the certificate should only be displayed if the user achieves a pass grade (the pass grade is also defined by you).

    How do I create and edit certificates?

    Create and edit certificates under Tests > Certificates.

    Note: When editing certificates, you can choose to display the user's name, score and the test name. These details will always be added automatically for each user when they download their certificate.

    Allow users to download a custom certificate once they have completed a test: Within the Test settings choose whether to display a certificate for your test, and choose whether it will show 'Always on completion', or 'Only when the test is passed'.

    Categories »

    Categories: Getting started.

    Categories are used to organize your questions and tests. Each time you create a new question or test you will be prompted to set a category.

    Create and manage your categories under Tests > Categories, or create new categories on the fly wherever you see a 'New Category' link.

    Tip: Categories are particularly useful when you want to create a test using Auto-Selected questions. Adding Auto-Selected questions means questions are automatically selected from specified categories within your Question Bank. Each time the test is taken, a different set of questions is displayed.

    How do I create and edit categories?

    To create a new Category:
    1. Go to Tests > Categories.
    2. Select New Category.
    To edit an existing Category:
    1. Go to Tests > Categories.
    2. Select 'Edit' as required.
    3. Ensure you select 'Update' after any edits have been made.

    Use categories to organize your tests and questions. On both the Question bank page and the Edit Test pages you can change the categories for multiple questions at once via the Edit question settings link.

    Themes »

    Themes: Getting started

    Themes can be used to apply organization branding to your test pages. Upload a logo then select appropriate colours (all ClassMarker branding will be removed).
    Note: This is valid for all tests assigned Link (for non-registered users).

    Create a theme:
    1. Go to Tests > Themes.
    2. Give the Theme a name.
    3. Define all elements of your Theme. Select a logo, appropriate colours and a background image (if required).
    4. Save and preview the Theme.
    Apply a Theme to a test within the Test settings page.

    Tip: Create a blank Theme and assign it to your group if you are embedding the test within your own website as this will remove the ClassMarker branding (if required).

    How do I create and edit themes?

    Use themes to add organization branding to your test pages.

    1. Go to Tests > Themes.
    2. Give the theme a name.
    3. Define all other elements (such as logo, color scheme, etc).
    4. Save and preview the theme.
    Apply a theme to a test within the Test settings page.

    How do I add organization branding to my tests?

    There are two options to brand your tests:
    1. Themes can be applied to all tests that have been assigned (distributed) via Link (for non-registered users). Your company logo and colours can be used to match your company branding. To create a Theme go to Tests > Themes. To add a theme assign your test via Link and then amend the Theme setting (above Availability settings).
    2. The test can be embedded into your website. When you assign your test via Link (for non-registered users) you will be provided with code that can be used to embed the test into your website.
    All ClassMarker branding is removed when using either of these options.

    Upload and manage images and documents under Tests > Files.

    Files that you have uploaded to your account can be used as follows:
    - In question, answer and feedback fields.
    - In the Test Introduction field that is provided for each of your tests.
    - In Certificates (for example your company logo).

    The Community section is where you can share your tests. Sharing tests is a great way to help other instructors benefit from your tests. You can also search for and copy tests that have been shared by other instructors.

    Assign tests

    General information »

    Assigning (distributing) tests: Getting started

    Once you have created a test you need to provide access to it. ClassMarker calls this 'Assigning' your test. Look out for the Assign buttons across the site.

    When assigning (distributing) a test you have two options for how users will access your test:
    * via Group
    * via Link

    Use the Groups section to add and edit your Groups. You can also review Group results from this page.

    Group users will log in via the ClassMarker.com website where they can access the tests you have assigned to their Group. Each Group user can be a member of multiple Groups.

    Review the Help item 'Assign: Providing access to your tests' for more information.

    How do I assign (distribute) my online tests to my users?

    Important: Tests must be assigned (distributed) before anyone can take them.

    Assigning tests gives you control on exactly who accesses your tests, and when. It also gives you complete control by keeping results separated for your various user groups, if required.

    ClassMarker offers three options for users to access their tests.
    1. Groups: Under the Users section you can create Registered user groups. Users are assigned a username and password and they access their tests using these login details on the ClassMarker website. Tests must be assigned to one of your Registered user groups for the underlying members to be able to access your tests.
    2. Links: By assigning your test via a Link / embed code you can simply send your users a web link to access your tests. Public and private options are available.
    3. Embed code: Embed tests directly into your website again by assigning via Link / embed code method.
    Set your chosen options up via the Assign section after you have created your test/s.

    How do I unassign a test, or delete a Direct link group?

    To unassign a test from a Group:
    1. Go to your Groups or Links section, find the group/test and click 'Settings'.
    2. For a Registered user Group select the Unassign test button from the right hand panel. For Links select 'Delete link and any Results it contains' from right hand panel.


    Note: You can only unassign tests that have been assigned via Group. Tests that have been assigned via Link must have their Link group deleted.

      Should I assign my test via Registered user groups, or via a Direct link?

      When you assign your tests via Registered user Groups your users will access the test via our website www.classmarker.com, and they will have an account that has been setup by you, the administrator (under the Users section).

      When you assign your tests via Link / embed code your users will access the test via the Link that you have sent to them, or via your website where you have added the test. Tests assigned via this method do not have a defined set of users, i.e, users are not pre-registered. There are public and private options available so that you can restrict who will take your test.

      How do I integrate my own website and user IDs with a ClassMarker test?

      ClassMarker optionally allows you to integrate your own user ids with test results allowing you to easily export this data or send data (including test results) back to your own website in real time.

      You can record your own users ids by automatically appending them to the Link your users click to take their test (if they are logged in to your website for example).

      Example:
      http://www.classmarker.com/yourtestlink?...&cm_user_id=123

      The cm_user_id will hold your users "user id for your system" and will save this against their test results.

      You can also require tests can only be taken if a user_id is supplied, and limit each user id to one attempt only per test.

      ClassMarker also lets you set a return link for users to follow back to your website after they have completed their test.

      Return links can also have the users details, test score and duration appended to it for you to record in real time on your own website.

      You can also add your own unique parameters to be returned to you on the return link, by pre pending the parameter names with cm_return_

      Example: The parameter cm_return_employee_id=1234 will be returned to you as &cm_return_employee_id=1234

      When testing non-registered users via Link or embedding tests within your website, as well as password protecting your tests, you also have the option to limit exactly who can access your tests by using 'Access list'.

      An Access list is a list of unique identifiers you add (email address, employee ids, etc.) that a user must use to access your test/s. You can limit how many times each unique identifier can be used per test and they are recorded along with the respective test results.

      Both access list items and cm_user_id values can be exported to Excel format with test results, date taken, test duration and IP address.

      These methods do not require users to be registered to take your tests, and if using access lists you can mass import identifiers when creating and editing lists.

      Can I add or embed a test into my website?

      Yes. Once you have created your test you need to Assign (distribute) it via Link (not Registered user group). When you have completed the Assign process you will be provided with three options for delivering your test:
      1. Email link to users
      2. Add a link on your website
      3. Embed test into your website
      Use the embedded iFrame code to embed the test in your website.

      How can I edit my assigned test settings?

      To change settings on Tests you have assigned, go to the Groups or Links sections and select your test. Then select 'Settings'. You can edit all the settings here.

      If you are looking to organize which questions are in a test you can do this via the 'Edit' function under the Tests section.

      What are Default test settings?

      Default test settings are pre-configurable test settings that are applied when you assign (distribute) your tests. This means each time you assign a test the default test settings will be used to define settings such as test availability, time limits, etc.

      When you assign a test to a Group, you can use your default test settings, or select custom settings for things like:
      • How many questions to display per page.
      • Randomize the order of questions.
      • Time limits.
      • Available dates and times a test is available in your time zone.
      • Plus many more settings found when assigning tests.

      The settings in my quiz are different from the ones I chose. How do I fix this?

      To check the assigned test settings:
        Go to the Groups or Links sections and select your Test. Then select 'Settings'. You can view and edit all the settings here.

        Note: You can define Default test settings, but you are then able to amend specific settings for each group/test when you go through the assign process.

      How do I define a pass mark and then direct users to a web page upon test completion?

      When you Assign (distribute) your test there are a number of settings you can customize to meet your requirements. These include: pass mark, pass/fail message to be displayed to the user upon test completion, pass/fail return web link to direct users back to your website after they have completed the test.

      To Assign a test and customize settings:
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign'
      2. Follow the instructions and you will land on the Test settings page.
      3. Towards the bottom of the Test settings page you will find the setting 'Set test pass mark and feedback'.
      4. Complete as required - and then scroll to the bottom to save your edits.
      To edit a test that has already been assigned:
      1. Go to Groups or Links and find your test.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Towards the end of the Test settings page you will find the setting 'Set test pass mark and feedback'.

      How do I define the availability settings for my exam?

      When you Assign (distribute) your test there are a number of settings you can customize to meet your requirements. These include availability settings: Set whether your test is available or not, or define a time/date range when it will be available; set how many attempts your users will have to take the test; set the time limit provided for each attempt.

      To Assign a test and customize settings:
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign'
      2. Follow the instructions and you will land on the Test settings page.
      3. Edit the settings for Test availability, How many attempts allowed and Time limit settings as required.

      How do I show feedback on answers both during the test and on test completion?

      You can set tests to show feedback after each question, or at the end of the test, or show no feedback at all.

      Feedback per question is added when you create or edit a question:
      1. Go to Tests > Question bank.
      2. Add a new question (using Manage Questions) or select Edit question for an existing question.
      3. Enter the required feedback for a correct or incorrect answer.
      4. Scroll down and select Save.
      To have this feedback show to the user you must edit the Test settings:
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign', or find the Group or Link for a test that has already been assigned and select 'Settings'.
      2. Within the settings page define the following: Choose what users will see after completion, Show feedback during test, Set test pass mark and feedback.

      Do I have to display the score after a test?

      You can hide the score from your users and then choose to show it at a later date if you wish.

      This is defined in your Test settings:
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign', or find the Group or Link for a test that has already been assigned and select 'Settings'.
      2. Within the Test settings page define the setting: Choose what users will see after completion.
      3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Submit and Review.

      Can I define a number of attempts allowed for each test per user?

      Yes.

      When you Assign (distribute) your test there are a number of settings you can customize to meet your requirements. These include availability and number of attempts settings: Set whether your test is available or not, or define a time/date range when it will be available; set how many attempts your users will have to take the test; set the time limit provided for each attempt.

      To Assign a test and customize settings:
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign'
      2. Follow the instructions and you will land on the Test settings page.
      3. Edit the settings for Test availability, How many attempts allowed and Time limit settings as required.
      4. Scroll to the bottom to save your edits.
      To edit settings for a Test that has already been assigned:
      1. Go to Groups or Links and find your test.
      2. Select 'Settings'.

      Groups: Getting Started

      Once you have created a test you need to provide access to it. ClassMarker calls this 'Assigning' your test. Look out for the Assign buttons across the site.

      When assigning (distributing) a test you have two options for how users will access your test:
      * via Group
      * via Link

      Use the Groups section to add and edit your Groups. You can also review Group results from this page.

      Group users will log in via the ClassMarker.com website where they can access the tests you have assigned to their Group. Each Group user can be a member of multiple Groups.

      Review the Help item 'Assign: Providing access to your tests' for more information.

      Assign via Groups:

      Assigning your ClassMarker tests via Groups allows you to distribute tests to specific groups of users you have registered under your account. Tests assigned to a Registered user Group can only be accessed by members of that group.

      Registered users can only access tests by signing into their account at ClassMarker.com. Once signed in they can see all tests that have been assigned to their group/s and can also review past results.

      There are a number of Test settings that you can define to your requirements including the ability to hide the test and set specific availability dates for when the test can be accessed:
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign'.
      2. Select one or more of your Registered user groups.
      3. Define your required test settings.
      4. Your test is now ready to take by members of your selected group/s.

      How do I assign a test to a registered user group?

      Tests assigned to a Registered user group can only be accessed by members of that group.

      You have the ability to hide the test and set specific available dates for when the test can be accessed.
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign'.
      2. Select one or more of your Registered user groups.
      3. Select your required test settings.
      4. Your test is now ready to take by members of your selected group/s.

      Group Settings:

      When you assign (provide access to) a test (either by Group or Link) you will be provided with a number of customizable settings to ensure your test is delivered according to your requirements.       Assign via Links:

      Assigning your ClassMarker tests via Link allows you to:
      • Distribute test/s to non-registered users (public and private options are available).
      • Retrieve a link for the test which can be sent out to users or add/embed into your website. (Users will not login via the ClassMarker.com website.)
      How to Assign a test via Link:
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign'.
      2. Under the heading 'Assign Test', select 'Via Link'. You will now see the 'Create Link' button, select this to continue.
      3. Define your required test settings.
      Once you hit 'Submit and Review' you will be shown the Link for your test as well as the HTML code that can be used to embed the test into your website (if you require).

      View your Direct link code at any time by going to the Links section and selecting 'Settings' under the correct test.

      Note: You can only embed one test per web page. Multiple tests are allowed throughout your website.

      How do I assign a test to non-registered users / via Direct link?

      If you assign your test via Link, instead of a registered user group, the test can only be accessed by:
      • Users you send the test link to / or you can link to the test from your website.
      • Users who visit your website can access the web page you have embedded the test in.
      You can set a window of available dates that the test can be accessed between as well as password protect the test and use an Access list (to ensure you have full control over who takes your test).

      How to Assign a test via Link:
      1. Go to the Tests section, expand your test and click 'Assign'.
      2. Under the 'Assign Test' heading, select the 'Via Link'. You will now see the 'Create New Link' button, select this to continue.
      3. Select your required test settings. Remember to select the 'Save results' check box.
      You will now be able to view the direct link to your test as well as copy and paste the HTML code to your website if you wish to embed the test.

      View your direct link HTML code at any time by going to the Links section and selecting 'Settings' under the correct group.

      Note: You can only embed one test per web page. Multiple tests are allowed throughout your website.

      How do I set my Direct links tests as private?

      You have multiple options to give limited access to your tests, including the use of passwords or creating Access lists to grant access to specific users or user groups.

      How can I change the underlying test that points to a Link?

      You can change the test and branding that your direct link points to, or remove access all together. This allows you to send Links to users and make changes at any time without the need to send new links.

      To change the test:
      1. Go to the Links section, find your group/test and select 'Settings'.
      2. In the right hand panel there is an option to Change assigned test. (Note: You cannot change the underlying test if there are results saved.)
      3. Follow the prompts.

      How do I stop different Links from loading the same test?

      A Direct link test must be completed before a new test can be loaded, even when selecting a different Link.

      ClassMarker will continue to load any Link test that is currently In progress. This allows for a user to continue their test without losing their progress in the case where, for example, the user's computer or browser crashes.

      Once a test is completed, users can then select a different test link to start their next quiz.

      How do I change the password for one of my tests assigned via Direct link?

      1. Go to Links, find your test and select 'Settings'.
      2. Scroll down to Group password and edit as required.
      3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and save your edits.

      Once your test/s have been taken you will want to analyze the results. There are a number of different ways you can look at the data within the Results section on ClassMarker:
      • Recent results (including those still in progress and that require grading).
      • By test.
      • By group.
      • By category.
      • And you can export results reports to Excel (TM) where you can sort and filter as required.
      To export detailed results:
      1. Go to the Tests, Groups or Links section, expand your test and click 'Results'.
      2. From the 'Actions' button found top left of the results table you can select 'Export results'.

      Recent Results

      On the Dashboard you will find a snapshot of your account.

      View the Recent Results tabs (By Test, By Group or By Link) to see results saved in the last 30 days. (For a full history of your results go to the main navigation and view the Tests, Groups or Links sections.)

      The My Data section to the right of the page displays what data you have under your account.
      You can use the My Data quick-links to easily access the different sections of your account.

      How do I view my users results?

      You can view and analyze results from the Recent Results section.

      Results can be viewed by group, test, category or user. Export results reports to Excel (TM) where you can sort and filter as required.

      How do I delete my users' results?

      You can either delete individual user results one-by-one, or you can delete a groups results (either Registered user group or Direct link group).

      To delete individual results:
      1. Go to Tests, Groups or Links and select the 'Results' button.
      2. Select 'Answers' for an individual result
      3. Scroll to the bottom of the Answers page and click 'Delete this single test result.'
      To delete group results:
      1. Go to Tests, Groups or Links and select a Results button. From the 'Actions' button found top left of the results table you can select 'Delete results'.

      Can I download results reports?

      There are two options for viewing results. You can export results to Excel where you can sort and filter as you require. Or you can view the results on-screen within the Results section, and then print these page views where required.

      • Go to Tests, Groups or Links and select the 'Results' button. From the 'Actions' button found top left of the results table you can select 'Export results'.

      Statistics

      The Statistics section is where you can view and filter results any way you require.
      View By Test, By Group or By Link by using the tabs, then drill down By Question, By Category, By User, etc.

      How do I export results?

      How do I compare results?

      You can view a range of statistics for each group, including test scores from highest to lowest, test completion time from fastest to slowest, and more.

      Results can be viewed by group, test, category or user. Export results reports to Excel (TM) where you can sort and filter as required.

      To export results:
      1. Go to the Tests, Groups or Links section, expand your test and click 'Results'.
      2. From the 'Actions' button found top left of the results table you can select 'Export results'.


      3. To dynamically compare results by Tests, Groups or Links go to the Statistics section.

      How do I edit grades manually?

      You can manually edit the grade for each question and the total score will be recalculated automatically.
      1. Go to Tests, Groups or Links and select the 'Results' button.
      2. Edit points as required by clicking 'Grade'.
      OR use the filters on the Recent Results page to find all tests that require grading.

      Are tests automatically graded?

      Yes. All questions (except essay questions) are automatically graded.

      Essay questions must be manually graded - the overall score will then be automatically calculated for the user.

      How can I sort my results data by department and/or location?

      When you assign tests via Links you have the option to add 'extra information' fields at the beginning of the test. Here you can customize the fields to ask for whatever information you require. These fields are not graded questions, instead these fields have been created to collate information as defined by you. The information is kept with the results, and when you export results to Excel (TM) you can sort via this field.

      To edit an existing assigned test:
      1. Go to Links, expand your test and click 'Settings'.
      2. Scroll down to Extra information questions (just under Collect user information) and enter the questions as required. Make sure to select the Make my extra information question/s mandatory field if you want these question/s to be mandatory to complete.
      3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and save your edits.

      My Registered user group has taken 3 attempts, but the overall group results shows only one attempt. Why?

      With Registered user groups, test attempts are overwritten each time, only the previous total score percentage is saved. You can see this when you view the Group test results page that lists each user in the group. ClassMarker works this way as usually groups with multiple attempts set are considered practice attempts. Upgraded accounts can have user results emailed to you on each attempt which will allow you to retain records of chosen answers for each attempt.

      If tests are taken via the Links option, all results are saved for each attempt, not just the previous results.

      I can't find results for previous test attempts for my users?

      With Registered user groups, test attempts are overwritten each time, only the preview 'total score percentage' is saved which you can see when you view the Group test results page that lists each user in the group. ClassMarker works this way as usually groups with multiple attempts set are considered practice attempts. Upgraded accounts can have the results emailed to you on each attempt which will hold chosen answers for each attempt.

      If tests are taken via the Links option, all results are saved for each attempt, not just the previous results.

      How can I retrieve results for a test I have taken on ClassMarker?

      You need to contact the person who gave you your online test as they have full control over access to your results.

      How do my users view their results?

      You have full control over how users can view their results for each test. You can choose to either not show results at all, or show results after the test is finished. You can show:
      • Score only
      • Score, questions and chosen answers
      • Score, questions, chosen answers and correct answers
      All these options can be defined within the Settings section. Go to the Tests, Groups or Links section, expand your test and click 'Settings'.

      Can I have quiz results emailed to me?

      Yes. The email can include the score only, incorrectly answered questions only, or full test results.

      Choose to have results emailed when you assign your test/s.

      Are results collated in real-time?

      Yes. You can view results that have just been completed, or that are still in progress on the Recent Results page. Use the filters provided to display the information you require.

      3. Choose which option you require, enter your username and password and select Delete now.
      Remember: This action is permanent so please ensure you are certain you want to delete the results and the group.

      To delete a Direct link group:
      1. Delete any results associated with this group first.
      2. Go to the Links section, expand the Link you would like to delete and click 'Settings'.
      3. Select the 'Delete Link' option.
      4. As long as there are no results associated with this group you can delete it.

      How many users can take my tests?

      Tests that have been assigned via Link are for non-registered users. (You can implement public or private options for tests that have been assigned via Link.)

      There is no limit to the number of users who can take tests assigned via Links.
      Remember: If you wish to save results you will need to ensure you have sufficient credits available.

      Tests can also be assigned to Groups. Each ClassMarker account has a limit of 1000 registered users.
      Remember: If you need to test more than 1000 users simply assign your test via Direct link.

      Do my users need their own email addresses?

      No, users can take your online quizzes without registering an email address.

      Can I import a batch of users?

      To import users for Groups:
      1. Go to the Groups section.
      2. Create a new Group.
      3. Expand the 'Add users' section.
      4. Copy/paste a batch of users here, ensuring the format is first name, last name, email OR last name, first name, email. Each user must be on a new line.
      If you want to give users access to tests assigned via Link, you can limit who can take the test by creating an Access list.
      1. Go to the Links > Access List section.
      2. Create a new Access list.
      3. Enter the unique identifiers as per the instructions. Make sure to identify what format you're providing the data in (ie, one item per line, comma separated, etc).

      Assigning your ClassMarker tests via Groups allows you to distribute tests to specific groups of users you have registered under your account. Tests assigned to a registered user Group can only be accessed by members of that group.

      Registered users can only access tests by signing into their account at ClassMarker.com. Once signed in they can see all tests that have been assigned to their group/s and can also review past results.

      To create a Group:
      1. Go to the Groups section and create a new Group.
      2. Give the Group a name.

      How do I create and edit a Registered user Group?

      To create a Group:

      When a registered user logs into ClassMarker, they can see any tests you have Assigned to their Group/s.

      After a user is registered, you can add them to other Groups to allow them access to tests across multiple Groups at the same time. Simply select the 'Delete/transfer user' link under the user details and then add to any group you wish.


      Group messages
      You can add notes for all members of a registered group to see when they are logged in.

      How do I reset registered user passwords?

      1. Go to the Groups section, expand the Group you would like to delete and click 'Edit'.
      2. Expand the Group members section.
      3. You can then reset individual passwords under the 'Edit Details and message' link for each user, or set a common password for the entire group via the Reset all members passwords link.

      How can I retrieve a Registered user's username?

      1. Go to the Groups section, expand the Group you would like to delete and click 'Edit'.
      2. Expand the Group members section.
      3. You can then reset individual usernames under the 'Edit Details and message' link for each user.
      Alternatively search for your user under Search users.

      One of my user registration codes isn't working - how do I fix this?

      Each user registration code is unique and can be used only once. Please ensure you give each registration code to one user only.

      User registration codes allow users to register themselves. To create new registration codes either create a new registered user Group or Manage members of an existing Group. Find the setting Allow users to register themselves and follow the instructions.

      Access lists »

      Access lists: Getting started

      An Access list is a set of unique identifiers (for example: email addresses, employee ids or random alphanumeric strings that you create). Each test taker will use one Access list item in order to gain access to the test.

      Access lists are used only for tests that are assigned (distributed) via Links and they allow you to restrict exactly who can take your tests assigned via this method. (You are not required to use an Access list when you assign your test via Links - it is optional.)

      You can use an Access list across multiple tests that have been assigned via Links OR you can create and use a different Access List each time.

      To create an Access List:
      1. Go to the Links section > Access lists.
      2. Create a new or edit an existing Access List
      Once you have created your Access List you can assign it to a test. Follow the prompts under the headline: How to apply an Access List:

      When assigning your tests you have two options:
      • via Groups
      • via Links (non-registered users)
      When you assign your tests via Links your users will access the test via the a Direct link (URL) that you have sent to them, or via a web page where you have embedded the test. Tests assigned via this method do not have a defined set of users, i.e, users are not pre-registered. There are public and private options available so that you can restrict who will take your test (please see the Assign section in FAQ/Help for more information).

      Each test assigned via Links gives you a link for your test that you can send to your users, or you can embed the test within your website. You can allow users to register a username and password so they can come back and complete a test at a later date if required.

      Tests assigned via Links can have themes assigned to them to allow branding for your organization.

      Only one test per web page can be embedded. You can embed unlimited tests across different pages on your website.

      How are non-registered / direct link user groups defined?
